The Happy House

I had a dream that my husband and I were looking to buy a house and we found one we really liked. The only problem with this particular house was that the previous owner had written “happy” across the front of the house in thick white paint. In my dream, we discussed painting over it, and we questioned why anyone would do such a thing, especially before putting it on the market.

That was it. That was my dream.

When I woke up, it got me thinking.

The Birth of a New Year

There might be a not so clear, but present, danger lurking amid the celebrations of this New Year. With full share of hardship on many levels, 2020 proved to be a bit of a parody in itself. It made the old adage “you’ve got to laugh or you’ll cry” seem more truthful than ever. The truth is that we’ve all done a little bit of both as we have inched our way through this last year.

All Things Considered, Consider Christ

I haven’t done a lot of writing lately, not because I don’t have anything to say or because I’m not thinking deeply about what this unprecedented Pandemic is bringing to the surface in my life.

It’s just that every time I sit down to pen some thoughts, I sense that there is so much that has already been stated and so I don’t want to repeat what many others are already realizing.

To Begin All Over Again

I fell asleep at 7:30 p.m. on a Saturday night. My husband and two boys were away on a weekend hunting trip and I’m guessing my early retirement was in some way inspired by the cooler temperatures outside, encouraging me to settle in bed under a warm blanket.
